About Bismarck Exterior Pros

Local Roofing Built for North Dakota Weather.

There is a version of this page that lists a bunch of credentials, drops in some statistics, and ends with a call to action. You have probably read a dozen pages like that from roofing companies. They all sound the same.

We want to tell you something more useful. Who we actually are, what we actually believe about roofing, and why we think the way we do things makes a genuine difference for homeowners in Bismarck.

Who We Are

A Bismarck Roofing Company. Nothing Else.

Bismarck Exterior Pros is a locally focused roofing contractor serving Bismarck, Mandan, Lincoln, and the surrounding communities throughout Burleigh and Morton County.

We focus exclusively on roofing. Not siding. Not windows. Not gutters, decks, or remodeling. Every service we offer, every person on our team, every piece of equipment we use exists for one purpose. Keeping roofs on this part of North Dakota performing the way they should.

We have been doing this work in Bismarck for over 5 years. In that time we have installed more than 1,800 roofing systems, completed over 2,500 roofing projects across our service area, and worked with more than 2,100 customers ranging from individual homeowners replacing an aging roof to property managers maintaining multiple buildings across Bismarck’s commercial corridors.

Our team of 12+ roofing professionals handles everything from post-storm inspections on residential homes in South Bismarck to full commercial roof replacements across Mandan. We are a local operation with local knowledge and a local stake in the quality of our work.

We are not a franchise. We are not a chain with a regional office that subcontracts to whoever is available. We are a Bismarck roofing company. Our reputation exists in this community and nowhere else. That matters when someone has a question about work we did three years ago.

Our Story

Why We Started. What We Learned.

Mark Anderson started Bismarck Exterior Pros with a simple frustration. He had spent years in the roofing industry watching homeowners get sold work they did not need, get handed inferior materials that failed faster than they should have in this climate, and get left with no one to call when a problem showed up after a crew had already moved on to the next job.

The roofing industry, honestly, has a reputation problem in some parts. Storm chasers who roll into a market after a hail event and disappear before warranty season. Contractors who quote low and cut corners on installation details that matter enormously in North Dakota’s freeze-thaw climate. Companies that push replacement when repair is the honest recommendation because replacement is the larger ticket.

Mark’s view was straightforward. If you inspect honestly, explain clearly, and recommend what actually makes sense for the specific situation, customers will trust you. And when customers trust you, they come back. And they tell other people.

62% of our business comes from repeat customers and referrals — not a marketing figure, just what happens when people get a straight answer about their roof.

The company has grown around that philosophy. Everyone who joins our team understands it before their first day. We inspect before we recommend. We write things down. We take photos. We explain what we found and why it matters. We recommend repair when repair makes sense and replacement when replacement makes sense. And we clean up after ourselves.

It sounds simple. In practice, it is the thing that separates a company you trust from a company you just happen to hire.

Our Team

The People Behind Every Roof We Install.

The people who inspect your roof, manage your project, and install your roofing system are not anonymous subcontractors. They are a team that has worked together, in many cases for years, serving the same Bismarck community.

Mark Anderson

Founder & General Manager

Mark is responsible for company direction, customer relationships, estimates, and overall operations. He has been in roofing in Bismarck longer than most people realize and still personally oversees the company’s approach to customer service and quality standards. He is pretty particular about how things get done. That particularity is what built the company’s reputation.

Ryan Peterson

Roofing Operations Manager

Ryan coordinates crews, materials, production schedules, and job-site standards. He is the person who makes sure that what was promised in the estimate is what actually gets installed. If there is a scheduling question or a project coordination issue, Ryan is where it gets resolved.

Jason Miller

Senior Roofing Estimator

Jason conducts roof inspections, evaluates damage, and prepares project scopes. He has seen a lot of roofs in a lot of conditions in this climate. He is also the person most likely to tell you that the damage is less significant than you feared, because his job is to tell you what is actually there, not what produces the largest estimate.

Tyler Johnson

Project Manager

Tyler coordinates active roofing projects and communicates with customers throughout the installation. He is the point of contact from the day materials are staged through the final walkthrough. Customers who want to know what is happening tomorrow morning call Tyler.

Eric Larson

Storm Damage Specialist

Eric focuses on hail damage, wind damage, storm-related roof assessment, and inspection documentation. He understands what adjusters look for and how to document legitimate damage thoroughly. He also understands the difference between damage that warrants a claim and normal wear that does not.

Daniel Schneider

Lead Roofing Technician

Daniel oversees field installation quality and helps ensure roofing systems are installed correctly. He is the person on the roof who catches the small things before they become problems. Proper flashing technique. Correct fastening patterns. Valley treatment. The installation details that determine whether a roof lasts as long as it should.

Melissa Anderson

Customer Care Coordinator

Melissa handles scheduling, customer communication, inspection appointments, and project updates. She is frequently the first person you speak with and often the last person to follow up after a project is complete. She is also the person who will tell you honestly if the scheduling window is two weeks out because that is the reality rather than promising something that cannot be delivered.

Kevin Fischer

Safety & Quality Coordinator

Kevin supports job-site safety, installation quality, cleanup, and final project checks. He is the person running magnetic sweeps across driveways and yards after tear-off. He takes cleanup seriously because the job is not finished until the property is left the way the team found it.

What We Believe

What We Actually Believe About Roofing.

Some companies have values statements that nobody reads. We would rather explain what we actually think about this work and why we approach it the way we do.

Inspection comes before recommendation.

It sounds obvious. It is more often skipped than you would expect. We do not show up with a predetermined recommendation. We get on the roof, look at what is actually there, document it, and then tell you what it means. Every time.

Not every roof problem needs a full replacement.

This drives us a little crazy when we see it done differently. A homeowner with a fixable flashing issue does not need a new roof. A homeowner with three lifted shingles after a windstorm does not need a new roof. Recommending replacement when repair is the honest answer is not good business. It is how you lose customers for life.

Honest recommendations build more trust than any sales pitch.

In our experience, the homeowner who calls back three years later and refers their neighbor is almost always someone who was told by us that their roof was actually fine and they did not need to do anything yet. That kind of honesty is remembered. We are pretty serious about this.

Cleanup is part of the job.

We use magnetic sweepers after every tear-off. We remove debris and dispose of it properly. We leave job sites the way we found them. This is basic professional conduct. We are still slightly surprised when customers mention it as something that impressed them, which tells us it is less universal than it should be.

Written scopes protect everyone.

When the scope of a project is defined clearly in writing before work begins, there are no surprises for the customer and no ambiguity for the crew. We write things down. Every time.

Local accountability is not a marketing claim. It is a genuine operating condition.

We work in Bismarck. Our customers are Bismarck homeowners who shop at the same stores, drive the same roads, and often know each other. Our reputation exists in a real community where people talk. We cannot afford to do bad work or dishonest work and then move on. We are not moving on. We are here.

Roofing Only

Why We Do Roofing Only.

This is a deliberate decision and worth explaining.

A lot of roofing companies in this market also do siding, gutters, windows, decks, and a range of other exterior services. There is nothing wrong with that. It is a legitimate business model.

We do not do it. Not because we could not. Because we believe that focusing entirely on roofing makes us better at roofing.

Every person on our team is thinking about roofing. Every piece of equipment we own is for roofing. Every relationship we have with material suppliers is about roofing products. Every conversation our estimators have with customers is about the specific situation on their roof.

When a company tries to be everything for everyone’s exterior, they become average at all of it. We would rather be genuinely excellent at one thing. In central North Dakota’s climate, where roofing systems face genuinely demanding conditions, that depth of focus matters.

Our Numbers

What Two Decades Actually Looks Like.

We want to be honest about these. They reflect our business as we track it internally and are consistent with the work we have done serving Bismarck and the surrounding area over more than two decades.

5+ years of roofing experience in this market
2,500+ projects completed across residential and commercial properties throughout Burleigh and Morton County
1,800+ roofing systems installed over our company’s history
2,100+ customers served throughout Bismarck, Mandan, Lincoln, and surrounding communities
4.9/5 customer rating based on customer feedback we have collected across our service history
85+ customer reviews documenting project experiences
62% of our business comes from repeat customers and referrals from previous customers

That last number is the one we are most proud of. It is not something we manufactured. It is what happens when people feel good about the work that was done for them and tell someone else.

Service Area

The Communities We Actually Know.

We serve Bismarck as our primary market. Every neighborhood, from the Cathedral Historic District to the newer developments in the expanding parts of the city, is familiar territory. We know the housing stock, the roof ages common to different parts of the city, and the specific weather exposures that different areas face.

Mandan

Directly across the Missouri River, Mandan is a primary secondary market. We are there regularly.

Lincoln

Growing steadily southeast of Bismarck, Lincoln is also a regular part of our service area.

Burleigh & Morton County

For communities throughout Burleigh and Morton County, we cover the full picture of where we work.

What to Expect

When You Call, Here Is What Happens.

No forms. No email chains. No automated response system.

You call. A real person answers. We talk about what is going on with your roof and figure out what kind of appointment makes sense for your situation.

From there, the sequence is predictable:

  1. An inspection
  2. An honest explanation of what we found
  3. A written recommendation
  4. A written estimate if work is indicated
  5. Scheduling that is communicated clearly
  6. Installation done correctly
  7. Cleanup done thoroughly
  8. A final walkthrough that confirms everything is as it should be

We run the same process for a minor flashing repair on a South Bismarck home and a full commercial roof replacement in Mandan. The scale differs. The approach does not.
